The Wonderful World of Compost and Soil

Join us to dig beneath the surface and discover the incredible life lurking in our compost & soil

We're excited to be joined by Becca Goodall, a Soil Food Web expert, to dig into what's really going on in our compost & soil.

This is an interactive session, where we will go down into the earth to understand what is happening underneath the surface. We'll be looking through the microscope to identify the microscopic organisms living in our soil and compost, and learning what we can do to improve and protect them.

The day will include:

  • Through the microscope - Taking samples of compost and soil from around the garden to see what's happening right here right now. We will cover topics such as how to identify different microorganisms and how they all link together in the soil food web.

  • Why No-dig & Composting? - Using our samples to understand no-dig and composting in more detail, seeing with our own eyes what it really is that we are really protecting

  • How to maximise biodiversity in our compost and soil. Looking at our current practices in the garden and developing strategies for improvement.
