Orchard Blitz

We are thrilled to be part or the London Orchard Project series of Orchard Blitzes around London

An Orchard Blitz involves a group of people getting together for a few hours to give some much needed care to a community orchard that has become a bit neglected. As well as being outdoors and getting exercise, you will learn horticultural skills such as caring for soil, recognising different trees, pests and diseases, and pruning. You may also discover a new orchard in London, build your community network, make new friends, and of course have fun!

For this Orchard Blitz at Forest Farm Peace Garden activities will include rediscovering some hidden areas of the Peace Garden site, weeding, mulching, managing stakes, pruning and hopefully some early Discovery and Devonshire Quarenden apple harvesting!

There will also be an orchard tree ID tour of by our orchardists Mirjam and Daniel. We have nearly 100 trees on out site and you will learn how to identify 15 different types of fruit and nut trees by their leaves and branches.

All tools are provided. Just wear outdoor clothes and bring a packed lunch or food to share. Hot and cold drinks provided.

Expect to leave feeling good about the transformation your hard work has achieved !
